Ian Swift- Biography

Ian Swift is an artist who exhibited his piece 'Extreme Surfing' at the 2011, Sculptures by the Sea, Bondi. Ian was born in 1952 in Inverell, NSW. He started studying art at the University of England in 1987 and became a Bachelor of Art (sculpture) in 1989. He also won the University of New England Student Prize in 1989. He then went on to contribute to many group exhibitions and to win many prizes, including the Blue Mountains Sculture Prize in 1997 and 2001. He also won the Sculpture by the Sea Peoples Choice Award in 1999 and the Sculpture by the Sea Specific Prize in 2002. In 2002 he put on his first solo exhibition (Katoomba Fine Art) and continued this exhibition until 2006. Then in 2007 he put on his most recent solo exhibition (Rex-Livingston Art Dealer, recent works) and then presented a new piece at the 2011, Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi (Extreme Surfing).
